Server Installation:
Please follow the steps below to install WYWO to
your server.
NOTE: Installation MUST be initiated from a workstation NOT DIRECTLY
ON THE SERVER ITSELF. This applies to shared 'workgroup' PC's as well
as NT, Novell, Linux, AS400's etc.
Step 1.
Open Windows Explorer and:
Create a new temporary folder on your local
workstation C: drive named WYWOTEMP.
MOVE or copy the downloaded file
(wywo95.exe) into the
temporary folder you have just created. (WYWO is installed TO the Server from this
folder). If you have already downloaded the file to your server you
should MOVE it to a workstation to begin installation.
Double click the wywo95.exe file to
extract the files into the WYWOTEMP folder.
Run SETUP.EXE to begin the Install
Shield Wizard.
Select a shared folder on your server (which you have
already created, or create one on the fly) Example:
w:\apps\wywo
NOTE: If you already have the 16 bit version
installed, you should install into the same folder on the server. Both
16 and 32 bit versions reside in the one location. Installing the 32
bit version will NOT over-write the 16 bit version.
Setup will copy the files from the
workstation to the server, and create several icons (on the
workstation) allowing access to the main program (WYWO32), the Admin
function (WSETUP32), and the Carousel. The Admin and Carousel Icons
are ONLY created on the workstation
used to install TO the server.
NOTE: Unlike the 16 bit
version, you must still perform the workstation install (Step 3) from
the server BACK to the PC you are now using after the software is
copied to the server.
Step 2.
Adding users to the
database:
Run the ADMIN program
(WSETUP32.EXE)
and add your users.
Do NOT choose the 'Use mail for
receiving' selection or the phone book option will be disabled. (Which
is one of the most useful features!)
Step 3.
Workstation Installation:
Go to each workstation and open Windows Explorer:
Run the workstation installer from the folder on the Server.
(Example) w:\apps\wywo\setup.exe
NOTE: Setup will detect that
it is being installed TO a workstation (from the server) and display
'Workstation Setup' at the top of the screen.
Workstation setup will create a new
Program Group, create the Icons required for the users to access the
software (residing on the server), and attempt to copy CTL3D32.DLL from
the appropriate Win95 or WinNT folder on the server.
Open the Program Group and select the WYWO Icon. When
WYWO is run for the first time it will ask if it should be added to the
Startup Group, and also the name of the default user for this PC. Choose
the correct user name and choose the SAVE option.
The program is now installed and initialized for the
workstation.
Shared Server /
Workstation Instructions:
If the Server also happens to be a
workstation (usually Win95 or 98) you must still run the Workstation
Installation section on that PC (even though the software is residing
on the local C: or D: drive). Proceed to Step 3 but substitute the
local C: or D: drive for the network drive letter used elsewhere.
