WHOS-IN Pro - Admin Help

Main Screen - ToolBar Buttons:

This section details the actions of the ToolBar Buttons.

Import Button - Displays the Import Users Screen, which allows you to import user names and phone numbers into the WHOS-IN database.

Add Button - Allows you to add extra Columns, DueBack Types, Groups, Servers, Status Types and Users. Choose the Item Selector Node on the TreeView prior to selecting the Add button.

Modify Button - Allows you to edit existing Columns, DueBack Types, Groups, Servers, Status Types and Users. Choose the Item Selector Node on the TreeView prior to selecting the Add button.

Delete Button - Allows you to delete Columns, DueBack Types, Groups, Servers, Status Types and Users. Choose the Item Selector Node on the TreeView prior to selecting the Add button.
NOTE: Not all items can be deleted. For example, the 'Everyone' Group, the 'Guest' user (if there are no existing users), and the In, Out, & Busy Status Types. These are all protected.

Repair Button - Displays the Repair Database Screen which allows you to remove deleted entries from the database, and free some disk space. Repairing is probably only required once a month, or perhaps even less often.

NOTE 1: Exclusive access is TEMPORARILY required for this process, however you do NOT need to get users to log off first.
The repair operation consists of the following steps:
Renaming WHOSIN.MDB to WHOSIN.000
Shuffling WHOSIN.001 to 002, 002 to 003 etc. (up to 9 backup copies are kept)
Repair the WHOSIN.000 file (which recreates the MDB file.)
The procedure is very similar to manually repairing using MS Access, however if you prefer to use Access for this function, please ensure you have version 2000 (or higher) of Microsoft Access.

NOTE 2: Included with the distribution files is what Microsoft claims is a better repair tool than Access. This utility is known as JETCOMP.EXE. See: JETCOMP.DOC file for more info (located in the server WHOS-IN folder).
If you experience problems attempting a repair, try running a FORCE SHUTDOWN which will boot everyone OUT. Remember to CANCEL the forced shutdown after the repair.

Refresh Button - Refreshes the display with the most current data available.

About Button - Displays the About Screen with WHOS-IN copyright Info, Serial Number, Build Date etc.

Help Button - Displays Help for the Main Screen only.

Exit Button - Shuts down WHOS-IN Administrator (no surprise there huh?).
